David Kracov, the only licensed fine art sculptor of Warner Bros Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera, Betty Boop, and Peanuts properties,
and Academy award-winning actress and comedienne Whoopi Goldberg, have teamed to create a very special limited edition 3-D shadow box,
“Life Is A Gift, Enjoy The Present,” and proceeds from the sale of
each piece of this edition will be donated to Toys For Tots, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the minds of children.
”Life Is A Gift, Enjoy The Present” has a very personal meaning that is very close to David’s heart, and he is honored to be working
with Whoopi and Toys For Tots to help children in need. David has learned
to live every day to its fullest, and through his unique sculpting style has created an edition that is both moving and inspirational.
David Kracov est né à Boston en 1968. Après avoir gagner dans deux catégories d'une compétition d'art à l'âge de 12ans, David était l'un des plus jeunes artistes au monde à montrer ses peintures dans le musée du célèbre musée le "Boston Museum of Fine Arts" Plus tard David a étudié et a reçu son degré de l'école prestigieuse le "Rhode Island School of Design". Actuellement David réside en Floride avec ses chiens, Josie et Isis. Josie et Isis n'ont pas été surpassé par l'identité de David, ces deux animaux surprenant lui volent souvent la vedette autant que possible, en montrant en outre leurs qualifications sportives sur le tapis roulant. Ils se sont assortis pour voler la vedette à David et avoir eux aussi les feux de la rampe. Revenons à notre artiste.... Après réception de son degré en 1990, David a emballé quelques bagages dans sa voiture, choisi son itinéraire et est parti pour un voyage avec en poche des juste quelques cartes (pour vous les plus jeunes collecteurs, c'étaient bien des années avant que les voitures n'aient eu le GPS et que chacun ai son téléphone portable). Il a conduit pendant un long trajet, bravant de nombreuses péripéties tel une tempête de neige entre Boston et Los Angeles. Sans travail, David a obtenu un appartement et a commencé à frapper à toutes les portes de tous les studios d'animation, où il a par la suite commencé sa carrière d'animation pour "Ralph Bakshi", pour "Brad Pitt feature", et pour "Cool World". Oui, cela est vrai ! La première expérience d'animation et de création de David a été pour "Brad Pitt feature", et "Cool World" pendant plus d'une année. David a rapidement gravi les échelons et en deux mois est devenu le chef du département d'effets spéciaux, créant et dirigeant tous les effets spéciaux de visuel pour des films prestigieux. Une fois la production finie, David a continué à créer des animations pour "Disney", concevant des animations pour "Bluth", ainsi que plusieurs autres studios, travaillant sur des dessins animés tels que "Le Roi Lion", "Aladdin" ou "Troll" au parc "Dinseyland Central", ou encore "Thumbelina", et pour finir "Le Cygne et la Princesse". David a également écrit et dessiné pour des effets spéciaux de plusieurs studios, créant des effets visuels pour beaucoup d'autres films. Pendant ce temps ou il était animateur, David a commencé à expérimenter différents types d'argile, et commencé à sculpter les personnages de nombreux films qu'il a animé. Bien que n'ayant aucune formation réellement formelle, David a rapidement découvert qu'il a une passion et un don pour la sculpture. Un certain vendredi d'avril 1993 pendant une soirée dans une galerie se spécialisant dans l'art d'animation le public a pu découvrir la ligne personnelle de David, de ses sculptures et des ensembles de jeux d'échecs "one-of-a-kind" qu'il a conçu. La chance lui sourit encore, un jour en attendant des réservations dans un restaurant d'une galerie, il rencontre l'acheteur pour les magasins du studio de la "Warner Bros" qui décide de passer par David pour la création des jeux d'échecs qui seront vendus dans leur galerie. Depuis ce jour, David est commissionné pour créer les ensembles de jeux d'échecs en édition limitée pour la Warner Bros. qui seront vendus dans tous ses Magasins de Studio. L'ensemble des jeux d'échecs a été intitulé "Looney Trails" et a été produit en édition limitée de 50 pièces, chaque pièce d'échecs était sculptée à la main par David en utilisant une formule spéciale d'argile de polymère créée exclusivement pour lui. Il a fallu à David près de huit mois pour terminer les 50 ensembles de jeux d'échecs. Chacun des 50 ensembles a été vendu dans les deux jours suivant leurs sorties en magasin, ce qui lui a valu une grande renommée auprès des "studios Disney". Les "studios Disney" au vue de ce succès on désirez ardemment que David vienne travailler pour eux afin de créer des sculptures des différents personnages de Cartoon, ainsi que pour des jeux d'échecs qui seront vendus dans leurs magasins, galeries, parcs de thème et catalogues. Aujourd'hui David Kracov est le seul sculpteur exclusif autorisé de Warner Bros, de Looney Tunes, de Hanna-Barbera, de Tim Burton's Corpse Bride characters, et bien sur, pour la création des sculptures en édition limitée des studios Disney. Les sculptures de David sont exposées dans les plus grandes collections de grands noms et d'organismes de divertissement de l'élite d'Hollywood. Récemment, David a été commissionné par "the National Holocaust Museum" pour créer une sculpture rendant hommage à tous les enfants qui ont perdu leur vie dans l'Holocauste.

After winning first place in two categories of an art competition at the age of 12, David was one of the youngest artists in the world to have his paintings displayed in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Later David studied at and received his degree from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. Now David resides in Florida with his dogs, Josie and Isis. Not to be outdone by David's recognition, Josie and Isis steal the spotlight whenever possible, by showing off their athletic skills on the treadmill. Well, there they go again with stealing the limelight. Now back to the artist….. After receiving his degree in 1990, David packed his car, planned his route cross-country with a AAA trip-ticket and a pocket full of calling cards (for you younger collectors, this was years before cars had GPS and everyone had cell phones). He drove straight through a blizzard from Boston to Los Angeles. Without a job, David got an apartment and began knocking on the doors of all of the animation studios, where he eventually began his animation career for the Ralph Bakshi and Brad Pitt feature, Cool World . Yes, it's true, David's first feature animation experience was working with Brad Pitt for over a year. David quickly moved up the ranks and within two months became head of the Special Effects Department, creating and supervising all the visual effects for the movie. After production ended, David went on to work with Disney Animation, Don Bluth Animation, Rich Animation, as well as several other studios, working on such features as The Lion King, Aladdin, Troll in Central Park, The Pebble and the Penguin, Thumbelina, and The Swan Princess. During this time, David also worked for several Special Effects studios, creating visual effects for many feature films. During his time as an animator, David began to experiment with different types of clay, and started sculpting the characters from those films he animated. Having no formal training, David quickly discovered that he had a passion for sculpting. On a Friday evening, in late April 1993, a gallery specializing in animation art had an opening of David's personal line of sculptures and one-of-a-kind chess sets. As chance would have it, while waiting for reservations at a restaurant next door to the gallery, a buyer for the Warner Bros. Studio Stores decided to pass the time walking through the gallery. He was so impressed with the style and subject matter of David's sculptures that he immediately approached the gallery curator. Within days, David was commissioned to create a limited edition chess set for the Warner Bros. Studio Stores. The chess set was titled "Looney Trails" and was produced in a limited edition of just 50 chess sets. Each chess piece was hand-sculpted by David using a special formulation of polymer clay created for him. The 50 chess sets required almost eight months to complete. All 50 sets were sold out within two days of their release. Not long after that David was contacted by Disney Studios to create sculptures of individual characters as well as chess sets for their stores, galleries, theme parks and catalog. Today David Kracov is the exclusive licensed sculptor of all Warner Bros. Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera, and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride characters, as well as creating limited edition sculptures for the Disney Studios. David's sculptures are included in the collections of several of Hollywood's elite entertainment names and organizations. Recently, David was commissioned by the National Holocaust Museum to create a sculpture to pay tribute to all of the children who lost their lives in the Holocaust.
